The phrase "Putting a sign up in the middle of a desert" springs to mind.

"Doctor Fox was on the panel and I asked him why we didn't even get
nominated, and he said 'because you're not very good'. <pause> At least I
don't practise medicine without a license." - Ricky Gervais on the Sony
Radio Awards

Does that quote seem funny to you? Well, in that case, you deserve our
sympathy.

Must be the most overrated so-called comedian of all time.

First off, would you mind not top-posting?

And yes, it does seem funny to me - I find him hilarious and one of the most
original, funny and clever comedians of recent years. But comedy like that
is all subjective - out of interest what comedy do you find funny?

Ricky Gervais has only ever done two funny things, to my mind:

Bitter Heart
More to Lose

Both released in the early 80s by "Seona Dancing".

I was never a *huge* fan of the Office - never really watched it when it was
first on, but did think it was bloody good when I finally caught up with it,
but a few weeks back his stand-up show "Politics" was on the box and I
thought it was absolutely hilarious. And I'm subscribed to his podcast,
which is just simply brilliant. Even if it just 99% taking the piss out of
Karl, the former producer bloke who doesn't really do much these days.

I say... Steady on old chap. That sort of anger really isn't healthy
for one, you know.
